Celebrating a successful 2024 WLC Young Professionals Workshop
Build Your Career Strategy.
Use the "IDEAL" Strategy to build your career
based on your experience, aspirations, and skills.
On June 18, 2024, JASSC Women’s Leadership Counts Initiative (WLCI) celebrated its successful presentation of the Young Professional Workshop called "Build Your Career Strategy."
Sponsored by JASSC member organization Kuehne + Nagel, this interactive career workshop was presented by the WLC Committee Co-Leads JASSC Secretary Jun Tamahashi, JASSC Treasurer Chiho Kelly, and facilitated by Executive Coach & JASSC Board member Graciela Meibar. From Kuehne + Nagel, Regional President Jakob Koch and leadership from their employee resource group WILL (Women In Logistics Leadership) Sima Abdi, Tina Jordan, Natalie Zadorozhnaia, Anastasiya McCarter and others also attended. To engage as many young professionals as possible, participants were able to join in person as well as virtually. JASSC members and non-members were invited to attend.
Using her warm, friendly and empathetic approach, Executive Coach Graciela Meibar led the discussions. Using the "IDEAL" Strategy Planning, participants were shown how to assess their IDEAL (Insights, Design, Execute, Assess, Leverage" elements and using the building blocks of 'goals', 'strategies' and 'enablers' to build their career strategy. Graciela also noted on the importance of using SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timebound) Objectives and reminding participants to frequently review their plans to successfully build their career path.
A social mixer followed the workshop with participants engaging in friendly networking amongst themselves, with Kuehne + Nagel executives and JAS Board Members Frank Eguchi, Glen Hamakawa, and Ryan Bates that were in attendance. Many positive comments were also heard including, “ inspiring and entertaining; great speaker", "extremely interesting to listen to Graciela and to the other professionals that participated", "wonderful networking."
Stay tuned for more event from the WLC Committee!
Note: To further promote WLC’s mission of providing an inclusive and diverse platform for professional and global leadership development, Executive Coach Graciela covered other relevant topics for career advancement. She is graciously sharing her workshop handout that talks about these. If you are interested in getting a copy, please email Sachiko Usui, JASSC Programs Director at usui@jas-socal.org.
