Summer School in Karuizawa, Japan - Full Scholarship Opportunity for middle school students

Date: July 19 to July 31, 2014
Venue: ISAK Campus in Karuizawa, Japan
Eligibility: Students who are US Citizens and enrolled in grade 7-8 as of April 2014

For the third consecutive year, the United States-Japan Foundation is generously offering four full scholarships for US middle school students to attend ISAK Summer School in Karuizawa, Japan (approx. one hour from Tokyo).

ISAK Summer School is an English-based academic program for motivated middle school students from around the world, with a focus on helping students develop their leadership, negotiation and creative problem-solving skills as they interact with other youngsters from a wide range of countries, cultures and backgrounds.

US-Japan Foundation scholarships cover the cost of Summer School tuition (approx. US$3,800).

All students currently in grades 7-8 (grades 8-9 as of Sept. 2014) who are US citizens attending school in the US are eligible to apply.

ISAK Summer School Quick Facts
Location: Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan

Capacity: 80 students

Language of instruction: English

This year, students from approximately 20 countries will join the program, including Japan, India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Ecuador, China, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Slovakia and the US. ISAK Summer School is not a “discover Japan” or cultural exchange program, but, seeking students who are excited to think, learn and explore new ideas with motivated peers from around the world and to realize their potential as future leaders.

General applications for this year’s Summer School has closed, but ISAK is accepting applications for US-Japan Foundation scholarships until April 30, 2014. Interested students should submit their completed applications as soon as possible.
