Renowned architect and the creator of the LAX pylons Ted Tokio Tanaka, FAIA almost lost his wife in the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. Come hear Masako Unoura Tanaka’s inspiring story of survival and about her ongoing efforts to aid the affected region, including her coastal hometown as well as nearby Rikuzentakata and Kesennuma, which all suffered severe devastation.

She recently spoke at the Ofunato Rotary Club where her father has been a Rotarian for 50 years. 

Co-presented by the Japan America Society of Southern California. Since the earthquake and tsunami, the society has raised nearly $1.5 million in relief and recovery funds. The society and the Asia America Symphony Association led by President Ted Tokio Tanaka recently donated 44 musical instruments to schools in Ofunato, Iwate. 

Admission
$25 per person; light dinner will be served.
