This Automotive Hour will provide an overview of key technologies in the automotive space and summarize recent technology development activity by automotive startups. Morgan Lewis IP partner Jason Gettleman will present on recent innovations in automotive technologies, and corporate partner Nancy Yamaguchi will discuss key issues for automotive investors and automotive startups. They will be joined by Steve Cohen, partner and leader of the Morgan Lewis emerging business and technology practice, who will provide concluding remarks.

Because the automotive industry in Japan continues to dominate in terms of passenger vehicle production and many Japanese automotive companies are investing in new and innovative technologies, this webinar will include a presentation on the current state of automotive innovation in Japan.

Nancy Yamaguchi advises technology companies across the world on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, strategic and venture capital investments, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and technology transactions. Her clients include companies in the semiconductor, automotive, banking, IT, and software industries, among others. She also advises clients on operations of technology businesses and technology assets around the world, including intellectual property, labor/employment and litigation matters, collaborating with specialists in these areas.



Jason E. Gettleman
Partner

Silicon Valley

Jason E. Gettleman brings an electrical and computer engineering background to his services, which focus on patent procurement and patent litigation in the electrical and mechanical arts. Prior to attending law school, Jason was an associate design engineer with a major New York engineering consulting firm, where he designed copper and fiber telecommunications systems. As a design engineer, he worked on the Phoenix Project, the name given to the reconstruction of the Pentagon after the September 11, 2001, attacks.



Steven M. Cohen

Chair of the firm’s emerging business and technology practice, Steven M. Cohen represents entrepreneurs, private equity investors, and venture capital funds.
