Yumi started playing music at age of 3 and began composing music when she was 6 years old. She was diagnosed with Macular degeneration, a chronic eye disease that causes vision loss in the center of your field of vision.

In 2009, she started her own company called “Grace Note” in honor of her guide dog, Grace who retired the same year.

Almost every year, Yumi hosts a concert to raise money for Guide Dog Association and research programs that study and research macular degeneration in Japan.

Yumi’s mission is to believe in her future and the infinite possibilities
to have the courage and take action; to look at people’s good potential
and accept and understand differences in others; to care and have appreciation for others.
