Building Japan-America Relationships Since 1909
Saturday, January 14, 2017 8:00pm James R. Armstrong Theatre Torrance Cultural Arts Center 3330 Civic Center Drive Torrance, CA 90503
Inspired by Japanese mythology, artists from Japan and the United States will come together to tell the story of the beginning of the universe, and how a single grain of rice grew into millions that sustains all of our lives. The evening will feature live taiko drums, contemporary and traditional Japanese dance and kimono, Noh drama, and storytelling in both English and Japanese.
A SEED is a bountiful harvest celebrated with ravishing performances by legendary Japanese hand drum player, Saburo Mochizuki, Grammy Award-winning koto player Yukiko Matsuyama, the Wadaiko team Indora, Japanese and Baliasi dance groups, flower arrangement and a beautiful kimono show.
A SEED blends the excitement and traditions of contemporary Japanese culture into a sensual feast for the mind and spirit.
