This kite workshop will be conducted by Kite Master Mikio Toki, hosted by Hiromi Paper.
Toki will introduce the history of kites in Japan and a lecture about the materials and techniques used to build Japanese Kites as well as techniques to used to decorate Edo (Tokyo) style kites.
Following the lecture, a hands-on workshop will be presented which will introduce participants to Japan and Japanese culture through building of a small, traditional Japanese kite, made of bamboo and washi (Japanese paper) using the traditional dyeing method of ori-zome (fold-dye).
$45 per person, including all supplies
