The 86th Classics Season kicks off with a program celebrating America and the virtue of youth. Regarded by Gershwin himself as a “musical kaleidoscope of America,” Rhapsody in Blue transports listeners back to 1920’s New York City, while Copland’s iconic works represent freedom and conjure up images from the Old West. Featured soloist, and one of the nation’s top young pianists, 15-year-old Ray Ushikubo will dazzle listeners with his skill and versatility.
