For the second consecutive year, the United States-Japan Foundation is generously offering four full scholarships for US middle school students to attend ISAK Summer School in Karuizawa, Japan (approx. one hour from Tokyo).
ISAK Summer School is an English-based academic program for motivated middle school students from around the world, with a focus on helping students develop their leadership, negotiation and creative problem-solving skills as they interact with other youngsters from a wide range of countries, cultures and backgrounds.
US-Japan Foundation scholarships cover the cost of Summer School tuition (approx. US$3000), as well as round-trip airfare to Japan and transportation from the airport to the ISAK campus.
All students currently in grades 7-8 (grades 8-9 as of Sept. 2013) who are US citizens attending school in the US are eligible to apply.

Capacity: 48 students per session
Language of instruction: English
This year, students from approximately 20 countries including Japan, India, Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Palestine, Chile and the US will be participating in the program.
General applications for this year’s Summer School is already closed, but ISAK will be accepting applications for US-Japan Foundation scholarships until April 30, 2013.
