In the Middle of the Future: Tom Plate on Asia

Join the Los Angeles World Affairs Council Young Professionals in a discussion with renowned journalist and internationally syndicated columnist Tom Plate. Plate will discuss his recent publication, In the Middle of the Future: Tom Plate on Asia, an anthology of columns depicting the dynamic political and economic rise of Asia in the past two decades. Plate's column on Asia has been featured the past 18 years in newspapers throughout the world, and has been recognized as the longest-running newspaper column about Asia based in the U.S.

In his career as a journalist, Plate has interviewed numerous prominent political figures and world leaders, including U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, British Prime Ministers John Major and Tony Blair, and Japanese Prime Ministers Keizo Obuchi and Junichiro Koizumi. Plate has previously taught courses at UCLA, and currently teaches at Loyola Marymount University.

Refreshments will be served. Tom will also be signing books that evening.
